Rubber | Released: 2010 | ★★★★☆ | Worth Watching: Yes
The movie centers around a worn out intertube named Robert, who discovers his telekenetic powers in which he uses to blow up birds, bunnies and human beings. The movie starts out with a clever introduction about how life has “no reason” and neither does the movie.
What I thought was really clever is that the movie has a live audience who watches the movie from afar with binoculars. And they are interactive with some of the characters throughout the movie and are an interesting entity themselves.
Speaking technically, I really enjoyed the directing of this movie and a lot of the shots on the tire which are featured above. Another interesting aspect of this film was that the tire was very personable. He was just like a human, he drank from a puddle of water, he took showers and watched tv throughout the movie. Which really was an important element of what I thought made this movie pretty good.
Overall, I enjoyed it and it was very well put together and a very great indie film to say the least.
